6. DELEGATE REQUIREMENTS: HEALTH, FITNESS & LITERACY

Given the high-risk nature of Work at Height training, specific requirements apply:

6.1. Physical Fitness & Medical Disclosure

  • Delegates must be physically fit and capable of participating in strenuous activity, including climbing and lifting.

  • The Client must ensure Delegates do not suffer from any medical condition that could compromise their safety or the safety of others (e.g., heart conditions, epilepsy, vertigo/fear of heights, balance disorders, or recent injuries).

  • Notice of Health Issues: The Client or Delegate must inform the Company in writing prior to the course of any relevant health issues.

6.2. Weight Limits

  • Equipment used in training (harnesses, lanyards, inertia reels) has manufacturer-rated weight limits (typically max 120kg–140kg including clothing and tools). Delegates exceeding these limits may be unable to participate in practical elements for safety reasons. In such cases, no refund will be provided.

6.3. Literacy, Language & Learning Support

  • English Language Requirement: All training is delivered in English (unless otherwise agreed). Delegates must have a sufficient command of the English language to understand safety instructions and complete assessments.

  • Disclosure of Needs: The Company is committed to supporting all learners. The Client must inform the Company in writing prior to the course of any literacy issues, language barriers, or learning difficulties (e.g., Dyslexia).

  • Accommodations: If notified in advance, reasonable accommodations can often be made (e.g., extra time, verbal questioning, or reading assistance).

  • Failure due to Undisclosed Issues: If the Company is not notified in advance and a Delegate fails an assessment or cannot safely participate due to undisclosed literacy, language, or learning issues, the full Course fee remains payable. A re-sit fee may apply for any subsequent assessment.

6.4. Alcohol and Drugs

  • The Company operates a Zero Tolerance policy. Any Delegate suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be removed from the Course immediately. No refund will be given.

7. ON-SITE TRAINING (CLIENT PREMISES)

Where training is delivered at a venue provided by the Client:

7.1. Suitability: The Client must ensure the venue provides a safe, warm, and suitable classroom environment (tables, chairs, power, screen/wall for projection) and a safe practical training area compliant with Health & Safety regulations. 7.2. Safety Check: The Company’s instructor has the right to cancel or abandon the Course if, upon arrival, the facilities or equipment are deemed unsafe or unsuitable for the training required. The instructor’s decision regarding site safety is final. 7.3. Cancellation due to Facilities: If the Course is cancelled due to unsuitable Client facilities (as per clause 7.2), 100% of the Course fee remains payable. 7.4. Certificates: The Client must ensure valid, current inspection certificates are available for any fixed equipment (e.g., anchor points, scaffolding) used during training.

8. CANCELLATION BY THE COMPANY

8.1. The Company reserves the right to cancel or postpone a Course due to instructor illness, low attendance numbers, or Force Majeure. 8.2. In such events, the Company will offer a full refund or an alternative date. The Company will not be liable for any consequential loss incurred by the Client (e.g., travel or accommodation costs). The Company’s total liability for cancellation is limited to the training fee paid
