Is online Work at Height training legally sufficient in Ireland?

No. While online awareness modules provide basic theory, the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) guidelines and Irish legislation emphasize that practical competency—including harness fitting, lanyard selection, anchor point usage, and emergency rescue—requires in-person evaluation by a competent instructor.

How often must safety harnesses and fall arrest gear be inspected in Ireland?

Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, height safety equipment must undergo a pre-use check before every use and a formal statutory inspection by a certified Competent Person at least every 6 months.

Can Work At Height Training deliver courses on-site at our location in Ireland?

Yes. While our headquarters are in Dingle, Co. Kerry, our mobile training team delivers accredited City & Guilds Assured courses on-site at client sites in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, and nationwide across Ireland.

Are Irish employers required to have a dedicated Emergency Rescue Plan for work at height?

Yes. Under Irish safety law, if a fall arrest system is in use, relying solely on public emergency services is legally insufficient due to Suspension Trauma risks. Employers must have trained on-site rescue personnel and equipment ready.

What accreditation do your work at height and safety courses carry?

Our training programs are City & Guilds Assured, providing externally audited credentials that align with Health and Safety Authority (HSA) guidelines and European EN standards. We are also members of the Institute of Search & Technical Rescue (ISTR).

Who is qualified to conduct statutory 6-monthly harness inspections?

Only a designated Competent Person with formal training on height safety equipment inspection can sign off on statutory GA1 forms. We offer a specialized City & Guilds Assured PPE Inspection Course to certify your internal staff.
